Wind’s Eye

by Lynn Caldwell

sees clear
like glass
open, like air through walls
around
closedshut doors.

I am looking
without seeing
my eyes
closedshut–
open.

wind’s eye
cloudless
glass-sharp
glinting green
amber, sapphire.

my eye
blowing open.

Author’s note: The English word window is from the Old Norse wind’s eye.
