“Reality only reveals itself when it is illuminated by a ray of poetry.”
– Georges Braque
Like the great northern lights, we may study poetry, analyze it, even break it down to its primal components, but it does little to explain its uncanny gift for capturing the human heart and mind. Yet, in spite of this mystery, or perhaps because of it, a steady current of poets, journals, and publishers continue to build upon that web of brilliance in order to better illuminate this often obscure world we inhabit. With each issue, we at Aurora, do our best to contribute a few rays.
We don’t publish themed issues. We prefer free or blank verse. We really like the work that appears in FIELD, Little Star, Bitter Oleander, Copper Nickel, New Ohio Review, Court Green (praise its return), Poetry, APR, and far too many others to list. If you like some of those too, then we’d like to think we’ll be a good fit for each other.
Check our submissions page for details on how you can submit your poetry for consideration in future issues.
