by Kathryne Gargano
where are your footsteps
i track you through the city
but your scent is fleeting / no imprint
behind / only juniper
overwhelming / & the rain
that sits in the hollow of your throat
collections you owe / does the land drive
your marching / or is it the river
clean & new each time
you cross / i smear the dirt
across my chest / map
& key to find / & if i could
absolve / or is it to resuscitate
have you run with the ghosts so long
& do they carry you
have you faded into / a slow crawl / static
wandering beneath the skeletons
of light / darling
where are your shadows / the cracked
skin of your cheek i follow
the burning / berries punctured & seeds
like mines / like gore / wearing
the insides out
